As I look back on the last 11 months, I am so immensely happy with my time as Miss Florida. Even though I am sad to see my reign end, I am excited about the next phase in my life. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would have been able to go the places I have gone and meet the people I have met. I am so extremely grateful for these opportunities and I am looking forward to maintaining the relationships that have formed this past year.

To say I have been busy is an understatement. I have loved being Miss Florida and I never wanted to let a day go by that I didn’t utilize the crown to make a difference. One of the most fulfilling campaigns that I worked on this year has been the “Pageant Pants” campaign. Thank you so much to the 40 contestants who collected over 1,500 pair of jeans while spreading the message of “being comfortable in your genes.” Over ten charities and organizations have benefited from the generosity of our outstanding representatives.

In April my family and the executive board had the opportunity to share with the contestants, parents and directors what an unbelievable year this has been. Thank you to everyone who attended my “Dare to be Fabulous” luncheon- I thoroughly enjoyed our time together. Thank you also to Ann Marie Griffin for hosting a lovely dessert party in my honor. It was wonderful.

Also in April I was fortunate to be able to spend time with Governor Charlie Crist and several other important political leaders in our state. Thank you so much to Peggy Wood for arranging such an exciting day in the Capital!

Last week I spent 4 very busy days in New York City with one of my best friends, Elise Kashmiry. Both of us are looking to move to NYC within the next few months so it was great to be able to “job hunt” together. It is my dream to be an entertainment reporter so I arranged several appointments in the city. On Tuesday, April Woodard from Inside Edition allowed me to shadow her for the afternoon. I learned so much about what goes into the production of the show as well as the responsibilities of each reporter. After that I headed over to the NY office for NEDA where I had the chance to sit down and chat with CEO Lynn Grefe. Lynn put me in contact with WABC anchor Diana Williams. Diana offered incredible advice and I am so grateful to have been able to spend some time with her. Elise and I attended the Thursday and Friday tapings of Live with Regis and Kelly. I also met with a producer from CBS and several other media gurus while I was there. On Thursday night I had dinner with Susan Lucci and her husband as well as my sponsor Edward Walson. It was a phenomenal trip and I can’t wait to see what lies ahead.

This year’s pageant is going to be exceptional! I am so excited that Miss America , Lauren Nelson, will be joining us as well as Project Runway’s Kayne Gillaspie and Miss America 1999, Nicole Johnson. Lauren and I spent a lot of time together at Miss America and I am so honored that she chose to come to our state pageant!

Thank you again for making this an absolutely fabulous year. I have embraced this job and I have so many amazing memories that I will hold near and dear to my heart forever. I hope that all of you can join us at the 72nd annual Miss Florida Pageant in St. Petersburg!

Love always,
Allison Kreiger
